Guided Residency Package
After the Implant Intro course many participants would say “I want to become an Implant Dentist, please tell me what courses I need and when to attend them”. As a response to these requests for assistance we created the guided training program and named it the Guided Residency Package.
This concept packages together WhiteCap courses and also defines outside learning activities that will help advance the student’s skills between courses. The Guided Residency provides an extra dimension of participation and better economy since the Residency package provides significant savings over ala carte course tuition. During a residency we help define a course sequence, skill development areas and recommended cases to experience. The guidance recommends supportive homework, outside learning exercises and books and reading that will help to advance your implantology skills outside of the classroom. Special course manual and materials are provided. There are over 80 hours of formal course CE, additional hours depending on individual education path.
The Full Week Guided Residency has been elected by some doctors to be the best method to learn implant dentistry. As the title describes, the program lasts a full 6-day week from Monday through Saturday.
This course is powerful, as doctors actually get to place implants by the end of the program (Saturday is Surgical Day).
Connective Tissue Grafting (CTG)
This is one of our most popular courses. It has immediate take home application. Most doctors discover many cases awaiting them in their practice. Within weeks they are performing this great service weekly. Participants are introduced to the surgical aspect of soft tissue periodontal procedures as they relate to other dental disciplines such as Restorative and Implant Dentistry. Live surgeries feature case planning and pre-operative discussions. Emphasis will be placed on the rationale of gingival grafting, indication and contraindications, case selection, surgical tips and treatment planning strategies. Course size is limited. Two day course.
Implant 1
This is the highly acclaimed course that over 800 doctors have attended during more than 50 sessions delivered in 2005 – 2009. This two-day course is packed with information and engaging activities that build upon skills developed in the Intro Course. Specific hands-on activities designed to instruct and establish habits include hands on implant placement, prosthetics, impressions and models and drill sequences based upon bone density. Case planning and case selections are also covered thoroughly. The activities alternate between live surgery and follow-up lab activities that reinforce the learning. Lively residency style discussions occur during pre and postoperative case reviews. Whitecap’s unique surgical protocols are tremendously helpful to the new implantologist. These protocols are taught during lecture then demonstrated in live surgery and practiced during hands-on activities.
Implant 2 Grafting & Membranes
This two-day course focuses on bone grafting, membranes, and advanced Implant topics. This second course in our implant series teaches bone grafting, use of membranes, and implant placement at a more advanced level. This course features live surgeries showcasing advanced implant, membrane and bone placement. The surgeries include case planning and pre-operative discussions. Topics such as case planning, flap design, suture techniques, and tissue management are also covered. Course size is limited. Two-day course.
Implant 3 Implants & Sinus Lift
This implant course is reserved for a limited group of doctors and WhiteCap alumni. It features sinus lift techniques and advanced topics. Surgery cases are incorporated into each course. Topics include multiple implant placement planning, sinus augmentation and sinus lifts, use of membranes, and advanced bone grafting. The lecture and surgeries demonstrate the Caldwell-Luc Surgical Technique. The Implant 2 is not a pre-requisite for this course. Course size is limited. Two-day course.
Implant Case Planning + Retreats
This takes the concept of “lunch and learn” and expands it to a new level. 1/2 day of lecture 1/2 day of fun activity. Designed to sharpen case planning and case presentation skills while building professional camaraderie. This course is a unique opportunity to bring selected cases for review. Each participant brings potential implant cases with supporting radiographs and models. Each case is presented to the group in a mock patient treatment presentation. The course is designed to be a forum whereby learning is accomplished with real cases. Class size is limited according to venue and activity. Both one and two day courses.

Training in the use of the various prosthetics parts and pieces as well as case treatment planning for restoration is included. Lively discussions occur to compare and contrast the various implant restorative options from immediate loading to traditional healing periods. Live surgeries to demonstrate single implant restorations are included as well as the process of taking impressions and tip and tricks for saving money when dealing with Laboratories and implant prosthetics.
One-day course.
Implant Prosthetics 2
During this one-day course participants are part of the restoration of advanced implant cases and multiple implant restorations. Skills to use implant retained over-dentures and locaters are taught. The course is packed full of the tips and tricks of restoring over-dentures gained from 20 years of doing implant restorations.
Auxiliary Staff Implant Training
In our experience we observe that offices with trained staff have had dramatically higher implant case acceptance than those with untrained staff. During this course the staff learns dental implant philosophy and patient dialogue, the vocabulary of implantology. This course then teaches materials handling, kit orientation, kit cleaning, surgical set-up and breakdown, case treatment planning and billing. Live surgery. Hands-on labs, cleaning kits. The course is aimed to familiarize full dental staff and assistants with implant procedures. Course size is limited. This course runs concurrently with Implant 1, 2 and 3 courses.
Auxiliary Staff Job Shadowing
Clinical shadowing allows your staff to come spend the day beside their counterpart in the dental office.
Implant Introduction
This two-day course is packed with information and engaging activities and is aimed at overcoming fear of implantology. Starting with the “WhiteCap Circle of Care” that defines staff activities and serves as a team playbook. The philosophy and patient focus creates a powerful foundation on which to build implantology skills. After the philosophical foundation is solid we focus on de-mystifying placement, case selection: green diamond – easy, blue diamond – intermediate, black diamond – expert, orienting you to the surgical system and clarifying the professional path to becoming an implantologist. Hands-on activities include drilling and implant placement practice. Lively residency style discussions occur during pre and postoperative case reviews. Whitecap’s unique surgical protocols are tremendously helpful to the new implantologist. These protocols are taught during lecture then demonstrated in live surgery and practiced during hands-on activities.
